Eating disorders

Eating disorders or eating disorders can be considered as the new plague of the age. Their causes are multifactorial and directly linked to emotional and psychological disorders. Their appearance usually begins during adolescence and occurs in both women and men with a higher percentage in women.

Anorexia

Contrary to its name, anorexia does not mean loss of appetite. There is a refusal of the person to maintain his body weight above the lower normal while he is possessed by an intense fear of not gaining weight, as a result of which he restricts his food too much. The weight and shape of his body determines the way he evaluates his life. 50% carry out bulimic attacks, use laxatives, diuretics, diet pills, induce vomiting and resort to extreme exercise in order to achieve a low body weight.

Bulimia nervosa

It is characterized by repeated bulimic episodes with the consumption of a large amount of food in a specific period of time. The person uses purgative methods such as vomiting, use of diuretics, laxatives, pills, excessive exercise or extreme diets to lose weight. People with bulimia feel out of control and cannot control the amount of food they consume with intense feelings of guilt and shame.

Binge eating disorder

It is characterized by repeated episodes of binge eating with large food consumption in a short period of time (2-3 hours). Bulimic episodes occur at least 2 times a week and are not usually accompanied by vomiting, laxatives, strict diets, extreme exercise, diuretics, diet pills. During the bulimic episode the person feels out of control with food and then feels guilty about the amount consumed.
